Montana-class cruiser by JanBoruta Montana-class cruiser by JanBoruta
The Americans entered the space relatively late, but their ships were built very carefully, with regard to other nations' experiences. Yanks developed advanced engine technology and made the propulsion units compact and small, compared to British engines. This USS Jefferson, a Montana-class cruiser is the best wxample of American space ship concept.

It's armed heavily for its size, but it is fast and reasonably agile. However, it lacks heavy armour.

...

This on took about 1,5 hr, HB mechanical pencil used.

I'm going to do some fighter and bomber sketches and take a break from ships, I think I'm burning out. :( But I'm also working on Ostfront, page 8.

Nevertheless, enjoy!
Tom :D

Yep, that's American all right.......the jagged teeth on the smokestack....the riveted steel hull look.....the boxy guns.....and the ball turrent on the bottom...

...but we only name ships with aircraft (I guess spacecraft now) after our Presidents......battleships get state names.....and submarines get city names....

...so does it have starfighters?

Um, the whole universe of our space steampunk is made up... But we have the same ship classes as in the real world - battleship, cruisers, aircraft carriers... But put in the interstellar scenery :D

looks as if it's just a reformed battleship - probably is...just took it out of the water and put it in space...
