Taste of Battle

The Russian battleship Borodino, in cruise at a very low altitude over the old town of Tarnów in Austro-Hungarian Galicia. Used earlier in 1914 during the first Russian westward push, it was later embroiled in the defense of the city during the joint Austro-German Gorlice offensive. The gargantuan warship hovered low over the town causing massive property damage and many civilian casualties due to its flight drive and broadside shockwaves, and was ultimately taken down by chance by a shell from an Austrian railway gun - the latter was primarly aimed at the city's rail station.

Concept piece I'd like to finish some day, but I think it's unlikely. Still, I don't think it belongs in scraps. Pencil, A4 paper. Done in 2013.
