Artist's Comments

September 1944. A group of German fighters tracked down American Flying Fortresses on their day bombing run over Germany, escorted by some P-51 Mustang interceptors. In the foreground you can see a Focke-Wulf FW 190 D-9, nicknamed "Dora Nine", one of the best German fighters of World War 2.

...

Right. Time for some normal comments. This took me about 8, maybe 9 hours. 2 for sketching, 2 for shading the bombers, 3 for the FW190 and 1 for the background. Mechanical pencil (HB) used in the initial sketch and 4B pencil for 'colouring' and shading.

Enjoy,
Tom :D

Thanks. I don't like that smoke either, it's always a weak point of my drawings.

That is very good. I actually like the smoke. Here are my critiques. The fuselage on the 190 isn't quite wide enough, and the wings are a bit shorter and stubbier. The plane looks too scrawny in this picture. Also, they get wider as they neared the fuselage. I'm a huge FW-190 fan, so a friend got me a model of one. I was really surprised just how short the wings were compared to the width of the fuselage. All of that being said, this is an amazing drawing.

The wings are too short and there is only one reason - the left wing would cross the paper edge. I didn't want that to happen and shortened the wings.. -_-;

ale najbardziej to mnie zdziwił ten tekst : "I don't support the Nazi ideology. However, I had to include its emblem here, as I wanted to be historically accurate."...ktoś ci zarzucał ze nazista jestes bo swastyki na ogonie rysujesz?? O_o Przeca tak było...
