As the Franco-Prussian War rages in the skies, conventional navies of both sides clash on the seas around Europe. The Foudroyant leads its squadron in a daring charge across the North Sea in a desperate attempt to halt the Prussian advance and turn the tides of war.

I finally finished the idea I had in my sketchbook since last January. I hope you'll like it. The drawing is slightly wider than A5, but of the same height. 2B and HB mechanical pencil.

Cheers!
Tom :)

This really is incredible artwork though, and I really love the way you brought out the inverted upwards slant of the bow characteristic of the period's capitol ships.

Too bad the superior French Navy couldn't stop Bismarck and Helmuth von Moltke the Elder from marching their troops through Paris

Great! Though I think that alternate timeline or not, the French Navy was way better than the Prussian Navy during the 1870s.

And it was until the 1890s, when the French were left behind by Biritsh and German rapid advances in naval technology... That's a pity, because the French had some of the best looking designs of the era.

Again, another reason why I watched you is evident in this piece; in fact, several are evident!!

1: I love the detail you put into your pieces, it makes them very believable, as if you were present at the battlefield;
2: I seem to have taken up an affinity with old battleships like this; I love the styles of these kinds of warships; possibly because of the way they look like old iron castles complete with cannons :D
3: I love history, so this is quite intriguing to me; better yet, I love it when people take the old world and make it their own, as you are doing here and in other pieces!
