Description
Varnus is one of the biggest dominions in the continent of Exiled Princes, and the one possessing the strongest military there. The Varnians are men of tradition, driven by their faith to either glorious conquests or tenacious defence of their motherland. Their armies, clad in green and red, strike fear in the hearts of enemies. The Varnians used to have the largest army, but as they progressed rapidly in military technology, they decided to develop specialized units, equipped with the newest inventions and the most devastating weapons. Army of Varnus is in the beginning of the process, however, and its standing army of conscripts is still the most valuable asset.
The green landscape of Varnus, rich in rolling hills and clear rivers, is littered with dark, twisted cities. The buildings are covered with a thick net of iron scaffoldings, pipes and chimneys. Except for the temples and places of interest - those buildings are cleaned each morning, so they can shine in whatever sunlight they can get.
Varnians are one of the few peoples still interested in dark magic, and their priests struggle to harness the dark energy and imbue it into an ordinary soldier's weapon.

This is a uniform concept for my own fantasy setting, in the world called Hirseng. The whole concept is based on mixing Merovingian, Carolingian, Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, fashion and mentality with a fair bit of clock- and steampunk, with World War I as the upper limit of real-world influences. I'm doing it just for fun and practice, though I don't rule out anything more serious.
